Carlene got her first taste for publishing at Latte Magazine, which she joined shortly after its first issue appeared on newsstands. While with Latte she served at almost every position, learning the intricacies of the publishing world. Working with Latte publisher Manny Crisostomo inspired her to learn about and appreciate her culture and the island. After Latte, Carlene worked at several advertising agencies, gaining understanding of the client side of the business. Dave Castro and Carlene started Guahan Magazine last July. Their love and passion for the island led to the creation of Guahan Magazine. The proud mother of a very active 6-year old, Carlene can’t imagine raising her son anywhere else but on Guahan.

David first got bit by the photography bug in elementary school after being shown the magic of film development in a darkroom. High school added graphic arts and short stints with Glimpses and KUAM-TV. In college, David worked with various forms of media but eventually left the industry. In 1993 a former classmate, Manny Crisostomo, needed help with his photography studio and dragged David back into the field. Manny started Latte in 1994 and David hasn’t been able to get out ever since. But even with all the insanity of the media, the thing that keeps him centered is a really, really patient wife and two great kids.

Joe Duenas began writing in January 1998 as a freelance sports reporter for the Pacific Daily News. Eventually securing staff reporter positions with the PDN and the Guam Variety, and even the editor position at DIRECTIONS Magazine, Duenas' love for the profession is evident by the sheer volume of articles he has written for those, and other publications over the years.

Recently, Duenas has begun using his writing skills to serve local elected officials, including Senator Frank Aguon, Jr. and Former Congressman Robert Underwood. Despite wrestling with the demands of his current employment, Duenas still finds time to return to writing, his first love.
