The Miller Football League season begins January 23, 2010 – with the kick‐off game at 2:30pm at the University of Guam Field. All interested players are invited to
participate in the region’s premier “American Football” league. “We expect a high level of competition and with four teams we should be able to get the best of the best on Guam to come out and join. We also encourage all interested military members to come out and play. It’s a great way to meet new friends and enjoy great competition,” said Charles “Church” Churchill, MFL Commission member.
"Miller Lite has had a long history of supporting local island sports and we are proud to be the title sponsor of the Miller Football League once again," says Miller Brand Manager at Mid Pac Distributors, Greg Lambert.
Hosting a premier sporting event such as the MFL also requires significant support from local businesses that are willing to commit their resources to help fund a league that for many years was the heart and soul of Guam’s football community. The MFL is proud to announce the four team sponsors, and their respective coaches, that have signed up for the 2010 Miller Football League:
• CARS PLUS RAMS ‐ Leonard Calvo
• DOCOMO CHARGERS ‐ Ralph Burpee
• PEPSI WARRIORS ‐ Loring Cruz
• SHELL HAL’S ANGELS ‐ Ivan Shiroma
A Miller Football League Commission has been established with the help of former MFL stars Charles Churchill (President) and Eric Tobiason (Vice President). The commission will oversee the implementation of league rules, work with officials, and assist in the recruitment and development of coaches and players, through a non‐profit organization, the Guam Football Players and Coaches Association.
All league games are slated to take place at the UOG Field (behind the UOG Field House) on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2:30pm. There will be a small admission fee to the games, a portion of which will be donated to a nominated non‐profit organization each week.
The Miller Football League is another in a series of sports sponsorships developed by Mid Pac Distributors. Mid Pac has been in operation on Guam for more than 60 years and is dedicated to provide the community with quality products and activities.
